The role of a project manager is well-known – to manage the process of implementing change, ensuring that the goals defined by the project sponsor and key stakeholders are achieved within the given constraints (time, cost, quality, effort, technologies, etc.).

The job description of a programme manager is very different: You are responsible for the achievement of much wider goals that you then carve up like pieces of a puzzle, and you rely on a team of project managers to deliver each individual piece.

This presentation is a reflection on one person’s journey from project manager to programme manager–the challenges and the epiphanies while growing into this new position.

Following this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • compare the similarities and differences of projects and programmes
  • examine the roles of the project manager and the programme manager
  • better appreciate this relationship from both perspectives

This event is intended for young professionals and project managers who participate in and manage projects but have not yet been exposed to the wider scope of programme management.
