Manon is a Managing Partner of Valense Ltd. a global training, research and consultancy firm and PMI Global Registered Education Provider since 2004. In the last ten years, she has led a number of training and consultancy mandates in value, project and program management and regularly teaches at Post-Graduate level. Manon has developed a number of courses in project management, leadership and decision-making. She is an internationally recognized speaker and has published regularly both at academic and practitioner level in international forums.
This presentation will address the fact that too many project managers argue that "projects deliver benefits" and seem to either not know or grasp the meaning of the basic definition of a project.
Manon overviews the evolution of basic project and program definitions over the last 10 years and then moves on to the implications and meaning of recent project and program definitions. Furthermore, this presentation will assess the economic concept of value in relationship to benefits over resources.
Last, project level decision making is discussed within the general context of product, service and result delivery. How does the project manager manage the project when the eventual benefits are not only beyond the scope of the project, but, may lie only in the "eyes of the beholder"?
