The PMI EMEA Customer Care Centre in the Netherlands can now be reached from Switzerland using a toll-free telephone number: 00800-7464-8490. Please use a landline to call and do not forget to dial the two leading zeros. Please consult the PMI FAQ for more details.
The PMI EMEA Customer Care Centre can answer all inquiries about certifications, examinations, membership, pmi.org access, REP or other general questions. As in the past, our office in Bern can assist on Chapter specific services such as regional events, newsletter, volunteering opportunities or sponsoring.
Thanks to all the candidates who volunteered to lead our association and are running for the 2012 elections, and to the Nominations Committee who run the whole process.
The electronic ballot is open now from 5th December onwards. Please check on the candidates and their profile and Vote at:
Voting is open to Chapter Members only. Log in with your last name and PMI ID to review the candidates' profile and election statement, and then select your preferred candidates. Your vote is automatically encrypted and fully anonymous. Note: obviously, you can vote only once.
Your professional association needs a strong PMI Switzerland Chapter leadership! The representatives to the board have a lot of responsibilities and we encourage you to take the few minutes required to cast your vote.
For the first time in several years there is the situation that we have exactly the same number of candidates, as there are open positions. The current economic situation seems to make it hard for members to take on extra commitments, so we would like to extend a special 'thank you' to those who applied. Nevertheless, please review their profile and election statement, and cast your vote, as according to our bylaws, in order to get elected, a candidate needs a quorum of 5% of the membership, that means about 70 votes.
Nominations Committee Erhard Zingg and Martin Haerri

Have You Reviewed the PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct Lately?
As practitioners of project management, we are all committed to doing what is right and honorable. We set high standards for ourselves and we aspire to meet these standards in all aspects of our lives at work, at home and in service to our profession.
The PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct does not attempt to define every possible situation an individual might encounter, nor does it try to provide the single right answer. Its purpose is to establish goals for and limitations on behavior, enhance relationships among practitioners and throughout organizations and provide guidance for decision-making.
When it comes to ethics, the right decision or direction to take is rarely clear. Dilemmas arise when you least expect them and doing the right thing can be very difficult. The Code is there to guide you. To review the code or find out more information please go to the Ethics Section of PMI.org.

Changes in the PMP Examination in 2011
The PMI Project Management Professional Role Delineation Study has been reviewed and the PMP examination will be adjusted to reflect the evolving role of Project Managers, starting August 31st. 2011.
Since research has shown that people did not fully understand the PDU (Professional Development Units) categories and how to appropriately report their PDUs using that structure, PMI is pleased to respond to this feedback to make the structure more user-friendly and better serve international certification holders.
The updated category structure implementation begins on 1 March 2011. Please consult the PMI specific information on the transition process and how to record your PDU along the new structure. In addition, this FAQ document can also help you saving time.
Key changes to the program include:
1. Simplification to the CCR category structure, reducing the number of categories from 18 to 6
2. Ensuring that all categories use the rule that one hour of learning activity is equivalent to one PDU
3. Expanding the categories to include Web 2.0 learning opportunities
4. Adding limits on certain categories to require that all credential holders pursue project management continuing education as part of maintaining their credential
It is also important to note what did not change in the program:
The three-year renewal cycle and number of PDUs required to maintain the credential will remain the same
The re-certification fee structure will remain the same

Volunteers not only benefit from a great network but can participate to the event, earn PDU and have fun! Plan for 1-3 hours a week depending on the role and the period (1 year commitment expected). More convenience and flexibility for CAPM®
To make it easier for candidates to prepare and schedule the CAPM examination, PMI has made several important operational changes to the eligibility and examination scheduling process.
Education Hours Eligibility Window has been expanded. Instead of having to complete 23 hours of project management education at the time of application submission, candidates must satisfy this criteria only before they sit for their examination.
PMI and Prometric have also expanded the network of test centers available for the CAPM, to approximately 5000, thereby increasing the potential volume of candidates. There are currently 39 CAPM Test Centres in Switzerland! The complete list and the FAQ can be found at www.prometric.com. This only applies to CAPM certification. For any other PMI certification, test centres remain unchanged (e.g. only one in Switzerland).
Please support our new project by telling us your views in our online survey, by 28 Feb. 2011.
How can we exploit Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. within the PMI Switzerland Chapter?
Hardly a day passes without the two words "Social" and "Networks" appearing together in an article, on the Internet, during a discussion, in a conference programme etc. Even Hollywood contributed to spread these words recently through a movie telling about the genesis of Facebook.

Website Outage
On Sunday, March 1, 2009, the PMI Switzerland Chapter website was subject to a hacker attack. To prevent further damage from being done, our hosting provider Genotec "locked" the site to stop the attack. The hole which the hackers used has been closed and the website is now back on-line. We apologize for any inconvenience which this outage may have caused.
A unique presentation skills event in Lausanne
In association with the Toastmaster Club Switzerland, the successful event performed in Zürich last year is now taking place in Lausanne on next Thursday.
Do not miss this great opportunity to share an unique experience with passionate professionals. Please register here and bring your Events vouchers.
Early 2008, your Chapter launched Event Vouchers with the objective of allowing each Chapter member to attend at least one Chapter event free of charge. Each new or renewing Chapter member received one voucher with a nominative value of CHF 30.- The concept is a success as 10% of our members actually used the voucher and its usage increased with time: at one of the last events in 2008, 30% of participants used a voucher to obtain a free entry.
Thanks to our VP Finance, now these vouchers will also be accepted by companies providing PMI-based training. Please consult our REPs list to know those companies (check for the voucher logo). We are confident other training providers will follow soon.
Even more value for members in 2009: each new or renewing member will receive TWO vouchers for a nominal value of CHF 30.- each. We hope members will enjoy these additional benefits.
Collaboration and Research Agreement Signed
The PMI Switzerland Chapter is proud to announce its first research agreement with an academic institute. After our AMM event hosted by the iimt, University of Fribourg, Prof. Dr. Stephanie Teufel, Director and our President Martin Härri signed this document which opens new opportunities for both partners to develop and enhance project management practice and knowledge at an academic level.
For example, during their research, iimt students in project management will have access to the chapter network potential and pool of expertise. On the other hand, the PMI Switzerland Chapter has opportunities to promote best practices in specific iimt programs and contribute to research focused on project management in Switzerland.
