A flight is a project; a project is a flight Conducting a flight and managing a project have many similarities. Are you the Squadron leader or the Air Traffic Controller in your project? What if the engine fails right after take-off? Does the pilot understand the intention of the Air Traffic Controller and vice versa? Our speaker is Hugo Kopp, CEO of Zimex Aviation Ltd., a specialized air transport company.

Presentation & Feedback giving skills - crucial competences for project managers
In association with The Toastmasters Club of Zurich
Project managers face many situations, where they have to stand before an audience. They may have to present the project status to a steering committee, motivate their team or talk about their project to a critical audience within the company. In those situations it is not just about getting the facts across, it is also about getting the message to the audience, in an understandable, convincing and sometimes even entertaining way. Today, being a good speaker is not just a nice-to-have skill for project managers, it is absolutely crucial for our profession.

How Would You Like To Be A Published Author?
Have you been involved in a groundbreaking project in your company? Have you developed a unique or innovative way of collecting requirements or dealing with project risks? Have you used an unusual medium for project communications? Has your Project Management education helped you to reduce the time-to-delivery of a mission-critical system? PM@CH - The Swiss PM Review will give you an opportunity to share your experiences with the European PMI community!
The PMI Switzerland Chapter launched PM@CH in 2006 as a platform for our members to highlight the state-of-the-art of project management in Switzerland. PM@CH gives you, our members, an opportunity to earn PDUs and recognition by describing your project management experiences in Swiss companies.
The next edition of PM@CH will be published in May 2008, and the 4th Edition will be published in November 2008.
If you have a topic which you would like to have considered for PM@CH, please send a short (1 – 2 paragraph) abstract in English to journal.taskforce@pmi-switzerland.ch. The PM@CH management team will review all of the submissions and will select the topics and authors for upcoming editions.
Articles should be between 2,500 and 5,000 words, and will be accepted in English, German or French. For complete details, please see the PM@CH Editorial Guidelines (available on-line at www.pmi-switzerland.ch/pm@ch/) or contact journal.taskforce@pmi-switzerland.ch for more information. |
