Goal:
Meet other Project Managers and learn about the importance
of team building for project success. The focus of this
event is to learn and demonstrate practical exercises in
team building in personal and professional situations. It
is also a chance to meet other project managers and other
professionals in Switzerland. This will be a great
opportunity to build and extend your personal network!

About the Speakers
- Heiner Grüninger
Heiner
Grüninger is Head of Global Project Management in the
Novartis Business Unit Ophthalmics, located in Buelach,
Switzerland.
In this position he leads a group of Project Directors and
Project Managers. The Project Management unit is
responsible for strategic and operational aspects of
worldwide development of new pharmaceuticals with
ophthalmic use. He is also responsible for the management
of the project portfolio in line with the Business Unit's
overall strategy .
Prior to his present position Heiner Grüninger held
various positions of increasing responsibility within the
Novartis Pharma Development organisation. Most recently he
was leader of the 'PRIDE' team in the Business Unit
Oncology. The 'PRIDE' team (progress of research in
developments a unique concept allowing early evaluation of
a groups of novel pharmaceuticals with minimal effort. He
has been leading teams brining more than 20 new compounds
into the clinic for the first time, including in 1998 the
now famous 'Gleevec'.
Heiner Grüninger holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the
Medical School of the University of Edinburgh in Scotland
and an undergraduate degree from the Biocenter of the
University Basel / Switzerland. He has successfully
completed the Master's certificate programme for Project
Management with the George Washington University. He
maintains a keen interest in all aspects of leading cross-
cultural and cross- functional teams as well
organisational structure and decision-making.
