Phillip Fu is British, works in the Finance/Banking industry, and had come to Switzerland first in 2005, and again in 2010 after having lived in the APAC region for two years. He first heard about the PMP in 2008, and decided to get the certification two years later

Which PMI-CH activities will you primarily participate in?

I am interested in all aspects of Project Management, but in particular Agile project management.

What message do you have to people considering getting PMP?

Approach it like a project and set yourself a target date and a schedule. Decide on your learning approach (self-study or classroom), then stay committed. Take as many exam prep tests as possible and focus your studies on the weakest knowledge areas.

What did you feel when you passed the exam?

Firstly, huge sense of achievement as there are few people in my organisation with this achievement. Secondly, great relief I travelled especially to Hamburg, to take the examination in Aug 2011 prior to the new PMP exam structure. My work environment currently follows a similar framework to the PMBOK, and this coupled with my Six Sigma certification, I believe prepares me well for my next project challenge. Bring it on!!!

Phillip plans to earn his PDUs working as a project manager, taking e-learning courses and attending PMI events. In fact, you may have seen him already at two recent PMI events:

1. Emotional intelligence

2. IT Risk Management

I would like to thank PMI CH for being active and helping the project management community in many ways

What message do you have to people considering getting PMP?

Read the PMBOK not just targeting test but start practicing it then it is easy

Sridhar is already an active volunteer for the Communications Team. (In fact, he was the editor for this Newsletter, so if you have trouble reading this text, you can either complain to Sridhar or get your eyes checked by a doctor. Just kidding.) You will most likely see Sridhar attending PMI-CH events in and around Zurich.
